Railway worker saves woman from jumping in front of train
A RAILWAY staffer grabbed a woman before she could jump off the platform in a railway station in southeast China’s Fujian Province, narrowly saving her from imminent death.
The 54-year-old hero Weng Jianzhong dashed to grab the woman’s arm when she made the attempt to commit suicide just as the train slid into the Putian Xianyou Railway Station around 5pm on May 10, local newspaper Strait News reported yesterday.
Both Weng and the woman fell on the ground and Weng hit the back of his head. But luckily he didn’t sustain any serious injury.
Weng had noticed the woman was in a low mood earlier in the waiting room and has since paid special attention to her at the platform.
Weng was awarded 6,000 yuan for his incredible acts of bravery and fast response.
