Rape charge not filed against husband who wanted to teach wife lesson
CHARGES were not filed against a man accused of robbing and raping his own wife at knifepoint after the case was submitted to a procuratorate, according to police in Quanzhou, southeast China’s Fujian Province.
The man, surnamed Shao, wearing a rubbery, lifelike “human skin” mask, robbed his own house and raped his wife in December. After he was detained by police, he said that his wife often chatted with other men online and he wanted to show her the risk of meeting people she met on the Internet.
Officials said that the marital rape case should not be treated as a typical rape since there was no breakdown in the marriage and the wife didn’t insist on punishment for her husband. As to the money, procuratorial officials said it didn’t constitute a crime of robbery since it was the couple’s communal property.
