Rapist flees as girl's father waits for police

A three-year-old girl was raped and beaten by a construction worker in his dormitory and her cowardly father hid in a bathroom to call the police instead of capturing the criminal.
The girl, identified as Xiao Qi, had more than 10 stitches in her head and her vagina was torn, but she was in stable condition, said doctors in Guangzhou, the capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
The offender surnamed Tang was putting on his clothes when the girl's father Bao Zhuang came in and saw his daughter motionless and bleeding on the bed. Bao withdrew immediately and went to a bathroom to call the police, giving Tang time to escape, the local news website, southcn.com, reported today.
Bao, 22, also a construction worker, found his girl missing in the large dormitory complex around noon last Friday. He began to search from door to door. After pushing open the door of Tang's room, he saw the three-old-old naked and motionless on the bed while Tang was pulling on his pants with blood stains on his hands, the report said.
"I saw her head was bleeding and I thought she was died. I called the police instead of catching him because he was too strong and tough," Bao said.
Tang escaped from a window and is still on the run. But Guangzhou police said they have narrowed the search for him.
