POLICE have detained a 65-year-old man who allegedly raped a mentally challenged 13-year-old, causing her to become pregnant
The girl in Chaoyang Town of Shantou City, southern China's Guangdong Province, was brain damaged after severe childhood illness, reported today's Sina.com news portal.
After the girl's father died several years ago, her mother collected trash to make ends meet, often leaving her daughter at home. About two months ago, a hospital check found she was five months' pregnant.
Police caught a suspect surnamed Yao who allegedly raped her several times at home, and are investigating further after the girl alleged another man had harassed her.
The teenager has now miscarried the baby.
