UNIVERSAL’S “The Fate of the Furious” achieved victory in the Chinese film market in the week ending April 16, with record high ticket sales of 1.3 billion yuan (US$189 million), China Film News reported.
An extended edition of “A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella,” was in second place, taking 103 million yuan. Fantasy film “Ghost in The Shell,” based on a Japanese animation, took third place with 47 million yuan. “Kong: Skull Island” was in fourth with 41 million yuan. In fifth place was domestic suspense thriller “The Devotion of Suspect X,” which grossed 33 million yuan.
