Regulation aimed at advancing rule of law in China
CHINA’S central authority has issued a regulation aimed at advancing the rule of law.
The regulation, from the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council, applies to chiefs of committees of the Party and governments at county level and above.
They have a primary responsibility for advancing the rule of law, the regulation says, and should avoid placing their own power above the law. It urges Party and government chiefs to advance publicity and education on the rule of law, and calls for more transparency in government affairs.
