Relatives of killed suspect on sabotage rampage

THE relatives of a robbery suspect who was killed by accident when a policeman's pistol went off smashed government buildings in a town in northwest Gansu Province yesterday.
The man was shot on Monday morning as he scuffled with a policeman after he and two partners allegedly stole tents from an airport in Xiahe County and fled to a village in a nearby town called Amuquhu.
They resisted police investigation and soon started a fight. One officer was injured in the fight and one suspect was shot dead when the gun went off, Xinhua reported today.
Outraged relatives sabotaged the offices of the town's police bureau and the township government for nine hours yesterday. The violence stalled official investigation into the case, the report said.
