Revised ad law warns celebrities of risks
CELEBRITIES will be held liable for showing in ads that mislead and cause losses to consumers under a revised advertising law.
The draft of the revised advertising law has been submitted to the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council and will be discussed by lawmakers. Once approved, it will hold brand ambassadors partially responsible for ads that make false claims. The celebrities may even face ciminal charges, said Liu Fan, deputy director of the State Administration of Industry and Commerce, the advertising watchdog.
