Reward offer for baby stolen from home
POLICE in north China’s Hebei Province yesterday offered a 100,000-yuan (US$16,000) reward for information on a baby snatched from his home.
The 10-week-old boy was taken from his home in Kangbao County at around 8pm on May 31, while his mother was taking trash outside.
Jin Man, deputy head of Kangbao Public Security Bureau, said police visited the neighborhood and checked surveillance camera footage, but have drawn a blank.
The boy’s mother, a homemaker, and his truck driver father have good relations with neighbors, said police.
The mother told police that she was outside for several minutes to throw away trash, and lingered in the front yard as she did not hear the baby crying.
The case has triggered widespread concern online, with speculation that the baby was stolen by child traffickers.
