Reward offered for arrest of most wanted armed robber

POLICE are offering a 1 million yuan (US$157,151) reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who allegedly committed several armed robberies, killing six and leaving two seriously injured.

The Ministry of Public Security had published a picture of the middle-aged man nationwide and listed him in the country's most wanted suspect list, Xiaoxiang Morning Post reported today.

The suspect allegedly carried out six armed robberies in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province and southwestern Chongqing from April 2004 to June this year, killing six people and injuring two others. He allegedly robbed a total of 280,000 yuan.

The man is in his 40s, around 1.7 meters tall, of medium built and has a Sichuan accent.

Police are offering 100,000 yuan for information about the suspect's identity and 1 million yuan for information leading to his arrest.
