Reward offered in hunt for rapist

POLICE in northeast China's Jilin Province are offering a reward of 10,000 yuan (US$1,498) for information that leads to the arrest of a man who is suspected to have sexually assaulted a bed-ridden female patient being treated in hospital.

Police said a surveillance camera captured the man, aged from 30 to 40, in a grey shirt and deep blue trousers when he left the hospital after allegedly raping a 30-year-old victim, who is unable to talk or move anything but her head due to a brain tumor, in Changchun City, the provincial capital, in the early hours of October 21.

The patient's mother said she bumped into the suspect in front of her daughter's ward before discovering the tragedy. He told her he was a nurse and said her daughter was "good," which worried her.

Upon arriving at her daughter's bed, she saw blood between her thighs, which stunned her as her daughter could not menstruate due to her condition. On being asked whether she had been sexually attacked, the patient nodded, reported Dyw.com.
