Rewards for uncovering secret funds
REWARDS of up to 100,000 yuan (US$14,647.39) are being offered to anyone who can offer information leading to the uncovering of secret funds held by government departments or organizations.
Secret funds are listed as income that has not been recorded in official accounts, including illegally collected fees, fines, rentals and income from sales of property or money from higher governments set aside for conferences, labor, training and consulting.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Ministry of Supervision, the Ministry of Finance and the National Audit Office have launched a nationwide campaign cracking down on these secret funds, a common source of corruption, Xinhua news agency reported today.
Informers will get 3 to 5 percent of the funds they help uncover, up to a maximum of 100,000 yuan.
Task forces will be formed for the campaign and Websites, hotlines and mailboxes will be set up to collate the information.
The campaign will run to the end of the year.
The campaign is aimed at government departments and government-sponsored organizations.
Self inspections are being encouraged and the task forces will make random checks on no fewer that 5 percent of the departments and organizations targeted. In some sectors, the rate will be 20 percent.
