Rules set for talks on rights
CHINA will discuss human rights issues with the United States on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said yesterday.
"Although differences exist, China is willing to conduct dialogue with the US to push forward the human rights situation" on this premise, Yang said while meeting the press with visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Yang said the Chinese constitution ensures the basic human rights of its people, and China would exchange views with the US in this regard.
On climate change, Yang said the two sides agreed to push for the success of the Copenhagen conference to be held in December this year.
