Sales assistant sickened by 'Gangnam Style'

A saleswoman in a hypermarket in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality felt dizzy and nausea after being bombarded with the song of "Gangnam Style" from a TV set hundreds of times a day.
The woman surnamed Lin works in the TV/stereo store. She said a television producer played the Korean pop hit on a 32-inch flat-screen TV every day to attract customers, today's Chongqing Morning Post reported.
At first, Lin liked the song herself and downloaded it at home. However, she developed headache and nausea after hearing the song played consistently above 100 decibels for 20 days.
The song's lyric consists of five-syllable lines which are repeated over and over again, producing the same rhythm as the heartbeat after 30 minutes of jogging. People feel annoyed and depressed listening to it for hours on end, the paper said.
Even the most beautiful song in the world will become noise if it is played hundreds of times. Long-time exposure to a high-decibel environment not only causes discomfort but also psychological problem, said Zhu Meiyun, a psychological counselor.
Lin's plight has drawn a lot of sympathy online. "I like 'Gangnam Style' but I will get irritated if the song is played excessively," said a netizen called Midiqianqian.
