Samsung recalls refrigerators


SAMSUNG Electronics Co will recall its RSH1 refrigerator sold in China following an explosion of one in South Korea last month.

Officials with Samsung China told The Beijing News today that the company is still calculating how many models were sold in China and will soon announce recall details.

The recall follows an explosion of a 2006-made Jiperu refrigerator in a house in South Korea on October 10. The blast was powerful and shattered the doors and windows.

Samsung detected design flaws with the product which had resulted in the accident.

It soon announced a recall of the Jiperu in South Korea, involving 210,000 fridges.

The product was sold as Samsung RSH1 in China.
