Satellite to monitor space launched
CHINA successfully launched a space environment-monitoring rocket early yesterday from the southern island province of Hainan as part of the nation's key "Meridian Project."
The rocket took off into space at 7am from a launch site in Hainan, the Center for Space Science and Applied Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced yesterday.
The "Meridian Project" is a ground-based network program to monitor the solar-terrestrial space environment.
