Saudi jailed for attempted rape in public square
A SAUDI Arabian man has been jailed for five years for attempting to rape a Chinese woman in a public square.
Alsubaie Bader Fahad, 22, will be deported after serving his sentence for the crime in Changsha City in central China’s Hunan Province, said a local court.
Fahad was studying at a local college, majoring in Chinese.
In April, he went to a fast-food restaurant at 6am after drinking, and began harassing a woman dining alone.
The frightened woman left but was followed by Fahad to a commercial square, reported Changsha Evening News.
He attempted to rape the 38-year-old and had removed some of her clothing when passers-by intervened.
Police detained Fahad upon arrival.
Fahad claimed that no assault took place as the woman did not cry out for help.
