Savage father scalds 7-year-old daughter with boiling water
A seven-year-old girl in southern Guangdong Province was scalded by her father with boiling water a week ago and has been admitted to hospital in critical condition. Her burnt area covered 85 percent of her body surface, the Modern Express reported today.
Her father Lin Shuiquan has been detained by police in Yunfu City and his motive is still under investigation, according to the local police.
The girl, Lin Qiurong, is conscious but her injury is life-threatening, said doctors of the Guangzhou Red-cross Hospital. They said she is in danger of infection and organ failure.
Lin's aunt Lin Tianyun told the newspaper that the girl's parents divorced two months after she was born. Her father left her to his parents and lived with another woman surnamed Mo. He never took care of her, the aunt said.
On July 19, her father suddenly showed up and said he would take her to town for a haircut but didn't send her back, saying she would live with him for a couple of days.
However, on Saturday morning, her grandma heard her knocking on the door and found she was standing alone and her body was so burned that her blistered skin started to peel.
The young girl said it was her father and Mo who did this to her and Mo even used a stick to beat her.
In the hospital, the girl told doctors that her father locked the door before pouring the hot water on her to prevent her from escaping.
Her father allegedly confessed to the police that he scalded his daughter in a hotel room on August 14 and sent her home after finding "she was in real danger."
Yunfu police said Lin Shuiquan had served nine months in prison for stealing motorcycles and was released in April this year.
