School bloodbath spurs vigilance
AUTHORITIES in several cities have tightened school security by adding police patrols around campus to avoid the kind of bloodshed that killed eight children in Fujian last week.
Police in Beijing will escort students during the opening and closing times of local kindergartens, elementary schools and high schools, the Beijing Times reported yesterday.
Schools will also hire a security informant to monitor daily information about campus safety to the police. The informants selected from the school staff will receive special training at the local police station.
Former medical worker Zheng Minsheng stabbed eight pupils to death and hurt five who were waiting for the school to open last Tuesday morning at the school gate of the Nanping Experimental Elementary School.
