School molestation case

A VICE principal of a key high school in Jiangsu Province has been sacked after he allegedly molested a female student in his office one month ago, the disciplinary supervising authority of Liyang City said.

The vice head in charge of physical education surnamed Fei was also dismissed as the school's vice Party secretary, Yangtse Evening News reported yesterday.

The authority didn't name the school or the student, citing privacy concerns.

Police investigated and detained Fei over the molestation accusation. An officer close to the case denied Fei raped the student, the newspaper said.

The teacher had allegedly claimed the girl had taken the "initiative," an official surnamed Liu with Liyang's education bureau told the newspaper.

The girl, a senior student, did not tell her parents until a month after the incident.

"It's a shame," Liu was quoted as saying, adding that the education authority will reinforce moral education so that all teachers can learn a lesson from the case.
