School officials rapped after students bully girl
TWO middle school officials and a class tutor have been punished after a girl student was bullied by eight boy classmates with hundreds of pin-pricks across her body in the school in northeastern China's Jilin Province.
The girl has been out of hospital for treatment and her parents are transferring her to another school, yesterday's Jilin-based New Culture newspaper reported.
Her parents called police after finding hundreds of pin-pricks across her body on June 1, when she claimed to be beaten by eight boys at Changbai No. 8 Middle School.
Police investigation confirmed eight boy students beat the girl. Two of the boys claimed the girl had broken their comic books and refused to pay 50 yuan (US$7.37) in compensation. They organized the bullying at a deserted classroom and sold tickets to other students to admit them to witness the bullying.
More than 30 students had witnessed the torture. They said the boys covered the girl's head with a cloth and beat her. They also poked her with ball pen points and compass needles.
The Baishan Education Bureau gave warnings to the school's principal Zou Jichun and political education director as well as the students' class tutor Jiang Haoliang. Jiang also had his tutorship removed.
Since all the boys were underage, they are spared from criminal punishment, according to police. But they shall pay compensation if the victim demands, they said.
The girl's family asked for 100,000 yuan but the boys' parents refused.
One boy's parents said the girl's parents beat their son after the pin-pricks and they would even sue the girl's parents.
