Schoolgirl finds abortion coupon in chocolates

A fifth-grader got a coupon for abortion service after buying some chocolates in a supermarket in Dalian, a city in Liaoning Province, according to a report on www.youth.cn.

Her mother Wei Hong found the coupon after the girl came back from the unnamed supermarket. The coupon offers young girls the service of induced abortion payable by installments.

Wei told the reporter of China Youth Daily that such a coupon can mislead children to have sex at an early age and have an abortion afterwards.

Through investigation, the reporter found the same coupons were also inserted in packages of pregnancy test papers.

"It is utterly irresponsible to give abortion coupons to underage students who still cannot make good judgment," said a Dalian sociologist, Zhao Xiushan.

"It has negative influence on physical and psychological development of children," He added.
