Schoolgirl rapes case: Principal detained
A SCHOOL principal in southern China has been detained along with another 10 people over the rapes of several teenage schoolgirls.
Anxi County authorities in Fujian Province have set up a special task force to investigate the case, in which several older women allegedly forced schoolgirls into prostitution, the Southern Metropolitan Daily reported today.
The principal is alleged to have raped four virgin schoolgirls, all under 14 years. Eight schoolgirls had been raped, the report said. Another senior public servant is said to be involved.
The report said a group of young women unconnected with the school organized the prostitution ring and charged clients 6,000 yuan (US$877) for sex with a virgin, pocketing 5,000 yuan themselves.
The scandal was uncovered when the ringleaders asked a girl student to have sex with one of their clients. However the client refused the girl who later told her parents and they called the police.
Xie Debing, director of the publicity department of the county, said earlier that a press conference would be held but no information has been released to date.
