Schoolgirl torture trio sentenced
THREE girls in east China's Jiangsu Province who tortured a classmate and took nude pictures of her have been given suspended jail sentences of up to 21 months, a newspaper affiliated to the Supreme People's Court reported today.
The teenage trio slapped their classmate surnamed Gao in the face, kicked her stomach, pulled her hair and threw her against bedposts on the evening of November 7, 2008 after she asked a girl surnamed Zhang to pay back a loan, according to the People's Court Daily report.
Zhang's classmates Wu and He joined in the torture at a technical school in Hai'an County, Nantong City. They forced Gao to take off her clothes and took pictures, threatening to release them if Gao reported the matter to teachers.
They also took her jade necklace, 20 yuan (US$2.92) and forced her to sign an IOU for 600 yuan, the report said.
Gao reported the matter to police two days later, when her face was still black and swollen, and she urinated blood for two weeks, the court heard.
The trio confessed and their relatives paid more than 20,000 yuan in compensation, earning them a jail sentence suspended for two years as they were under 18 years old.
