Scorned family accuses official of corruption

A HOUSING official in east China's Anhui Province is under investigation after his 17-year-old son and ex-wife accused him of corruption.

To secure evidence, they camped in his office for eight days and guarded three safes until investigators and prosecutors arrived to find cash, bank cards, and jewelry, today's Xin'an Evening News reported.

The official, surnamed named Liu, was director of Dangshan County Housing Bureau. His son and wife decided to file corruption complaints after Liu disappeared on February 8, the report said.

Liu had abused his ex-wife even after they divorced in 2005 and he kept a mistress, the son told the newspaper.
