Scuffle forces Beijing store to call off iPhone 4S sale

THE Apple Store in Beijing's Sanlitun area had to cancel the sale of the newly released iPhone 4S this morning after groups of scalpers clashed last night.
The scuffle broke out outside the store as hundreds of scalpers began to queue up to buy the long-awaited iPhone 4S, which is set for worldwide launch today.
To prevent the clash from escalating into a major violence, the store called off the sale of iPhone 4S. The decision further enraged the scalpers and they pelted the store with eggs, the leading news portal Sina.com reported today.
Other consumers who lined in front of the store for the whole night were also infuriated, accusing Apple of being a big liar.
Security guards at the store told Sina.com that iPhone 4S won't be on sale for Friday.
Beijing police later dispelled hundreds of scalpers.
Another Apple Store on Beijing's Xidan Street opened at 7am today and is selling the gadget according to the original plan. Each person is allowed to buy only two sets.
