Search for name and sponsor for cub

An animal rescue and research center in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province is searching for a name and adopters for the first panda born this year in the province.

The cub was born on July 18 to Xin Xin — whose name means “thriving.” Weighing 192 grams at birth, the cub was the 14th born at the Shaanxi Rare Wild Animals Rescue and Breeding Research Center.

A panda’s yearly expenses stand at about 100,000 yuan (US$16,130). An adopter who pays a minimum of five years’ costs for a life-long adoption can name the cub, said officials.
