Serial killer in wrongful execution case to appeal
SERIAL killer Zhao Zhihong is to appeal his death sentence for a string of offenses, including the rape and murder of a woman in 1996 that led to the execution of an innocent teenager.
On February 9, Hohhot Intermediate People’s Court in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region also fined the 42-year-old 53,000 yuan (US$8,464) and ordered him to pay 102,768 yuan compensation to those affected by his crimes.
When Zhao was apprehended in 2005, he admitted the murder that had been blamed on Huugjilt, the 18-year-old who was executed but later declared innocent.
