Shanghai acts against fire hazards
SHANGHAI transportation authority yesterday launched a monthlong crackdown against potential fire hazards on busy bus routes and inter provincial coaches.
Bus drivers have been told to stop their vehicles and call police when passengers carry dangerous objects on board.
Bus companies have also been ordered to strengthen drivers’ training to help them quickly identify dangerous and banned items and respond to emergencies more quickly.
A complete protocol for emergencies should be put in place and drills to deal with fires, traffic accidents and terrorist attacks should be held. Fire extinguishers and surveillance cameras on buses must be checked regularly.
Inter provincial coach companies will have to hire staff to monitor the operation and drivers' condition regularly.
