A woman from Shenzhen in Guangdong Province has been reported as trapped in the rubble after the earthquake in Christchurch. It is not known whether she is a resident or a tourist and no further details were available.
Meanwhile, a Shanghai tour group in the city had been "scared to death" when the earthquake struck but all 17 were safe, Shanghai Tourism Administration said. The group were heading to a port on New Zealand's South Island to take a ferry to North Island. Another two tour groups are safe in Queenstown, some 480 kilometers away.
