Shenzhen Metro to introduce VIP cars at double price

PASSENGERS who buy a double-price ticket are guaranteed to have a seat on Metro Line 11 in Shenzhen, a city bordering Hong Kong, Metro officials said today.

Metro Line 11 will have VIP carriages with luggage racks to satisfy the needs of some travelers but they must pay extra for the seats, today's Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

Two extra carriages will be added to trains to target VIP riders, said Zhao Penglin, head of the Metro Construction Office, at a news conference.

The Metro will also issue the one-day pass with unlimited rides on routes connecting major scenic spots, he said.

"If the VIP ticket is not too expensive, I may buy it, especially during the rush hour," said a woman surnamed Huang.

But other people argued that there is no need to introduce the VIP service and daily commuters won't benefit from it.
