Shenzhen subway accident kills 1, injures 4
ONE construction worker died and four coworkers were slightly injured when a 7.2-ton heavy machine rolled over as they were trying to hoist it up from a Metro station in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, Beijing Daily reported today.
The accident occurred at about 4am on Monday in the Shuijin Station of Metro Line 5 where these workers were using a set of chain hoists to lift up the heavy machine, but one chain hoist didn't work and the machine lost balance and flipped over, crushing one worker to death and bruising four others, local work safety supervisors said.
The supervisors said their initial examination showed that the workers didn't repair the broken chain hoist which caused the accident. The construction company also has some responsibility for its poor management.
