Shenzhou-9 to dock with Tiangong-1 space lab today

China's Shenzhou-9 spacecraft will automatically dock with the orbiting Tiangong-1 space lab module around 11am today, China News Service reported.
Shenzhou-9 was successfully launched into space on Saturday, carrying China's first woman astronaut and her two male colleagues.
Its carrier rocket, Long March-2F, blasted off at 6:37pm from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern Gansu Province.

The spacecraft is expected to complete an automated docking procedure today and a manual docking later.
After the automated docking, the three astronauts will enter the Tiangong-1 space lab to perform some scientific experiments, technical tests and physical exercises before taking some rest.
If all goes well according to the plan, the spacecraft and the space lab will separate and dock again manually to test key equipment for a permanent space station.
A successful execution of manual docking will signify China's attainment of key technology for space rendezvous and a major step forward in China's space program to build a space station around 2020.
