Shenzhou-9 to lift off tomorrow, 3 astronauts named

CHINA will launch its Shenzhou-9 manned spacecraft at 6:37pm tomorrow with three astronauts including a woman on board, a spokeswoman for China's manned space program said today.

The country's first female astronaut will be Liu Yang, a 34-year-old pilot from the Wuhan Flight Unit.

Jing Haipeng, 46, one of the three Shenzhou-7 astronauts who orbited around the Earth for three days in 2008, will be the commander of the mission, said Wu Ping, the spokeswoman.

Another astronaut will be Liu Wang, 43, a former Chinese Air Force colonel.

The Shenzhou-9 astronauts are fully prepared for tomorrow's launch, said Chen Shanguang, chief commander of the manned space program.

Shenzhou-9 will do both manual and automatic docking missions with the Tiangong-1 space lab module. The astronauts will then enter the Tiangong module and live there for 13 days to do scientific experiments.
