A man in his 40s surnamed Zhang arranged a hotel rendezvous with a 20-year-old woman he got to know on WeChat but was shocked to find she was his daughter when they met on March 13.

Worse was to follow, people.com.cn reported, because his wife had followed him from their home in East China's Anhui Province and, thinking he was dating his daughter intentionally, began to beat him mercilessly.

Hotel staff called the police. According to the website, there was some kind of reconciliation and the family returned home.
