SINGAPORE'S central bank, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, plans to hire Singaporeans with experience in China for almost 40 senior and mid-level management positions, a local newspaper reported yesterday.

The bank will be one of the Singaporean organizations and agencies offering career opportunities at Singapore Day 2011, a get-together event organized by the Singaporean government being held in Shanghai next Saturday, Lianhe Zaobao reported.

Other employers expected at the "Careers at Home" part of the event include well-known Singaporean firms and foreign enterprises that have operations in Singapore, such as Panasonic, banks such as Development Bank of Singapore, United Overseas Bank and Bank of Overseas Chinese, as well as Far East Organization.

The one-day event will be held at Century Park. The Overseas Singaporean Unit, a government agency, said there are now about 10,000 Singaporeans living in Shanghai.
