According to a statement published by his agent company this afternoon, Chyi called a medical doctor from a Beijing health service center to his home at about 2am to do cupping treatment, which is generally known as an effective way to relieve fatigue.
However, the doctor accidentally poured alcohol onto Chyi during the treatment and "caused big fire on him" according to the statement. Chyi was severely burnt and sent to hospital immediately.
Initial diagnosis showed Chyi had suffered second-degree burns and had to be placed under special medical treatment for a certain period of time. Chyi's agent said he would not be involved in any form of public performances and activities in the following two or three months.
According to a local medical expert, such burn injuries will not put Chyi's life in danger, but he may need skin transplant for complete recovery.
