Six die in Jilin road accident
SIX people were killed and one person was injured yesterday after a van fell from a highway bridge in Dehui City, northeast China's Jilin Province, said local police.
Two nearby traffic policemen managed to rescue one survivor who was immediately sent to a local hospital, said a police spokesman who declined to be named.
The van was overtaking another vehicle when it lost control, broke through the bridge railing and fell into the river at 15:10 pm, said an eyewitness.
Initial investigation showed that slippery road covered by ice and snow may be a cause of the accident, the spokesman said.
The killed people were staff members from a company in Dehui city, the spokesman said.
The police is investigating the accident.
