ABOUT three tons of concentrated sulfuric acid leaked from a truck yesterday morning in Pingdu City, Shandong Province, during a crash with a bus and tricycle.
The truck, carrying 18 tons of the chemical, rolled over during the collision at a junction about 5am yesterday, Qingdao Morning News reported today.
Six people were injured by either the crash or the acid, the report said.
Fire fighters took about six hours to clean one ton of sulfuric acid from the road and neutralize and dilute two tons of the chemical which spilled into a nearby construction site.
Traffic resumed about 9:20am. The accident was caused by the truck driver who tried to cut in, according to the report.
