Smuggler caught with heroin-soaked clothes and towers

A heroin smuggler was nabbed on a plane as soon as it landed in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province and police found he was carrying the drug that had been soaked into his clothes, local media reported today.

The 27-year-old passenger surnamed Ping was found on the Kunming-Wuhan flight early last month. Police got a tip-off that a man named Ping would carry one kilogram of heroin to Wuhan from Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province that borders with Myanmar.

Police searched his luggage but failed to find any drug packs in his suitcase packed with bathrobes, winter jackets and towers. An X-ray scan revealed some drug capsules inside Ping's body and his urine tested heroin-positive.

Ping told the police that he was going to Wuhan to work but his luggage contained no summer clothes nor any underwear, which drew police's suspicion.

The officers then soaked his clothes in water and found the hidden heroin.

Ping admitted that he was paid 10,000 yuan (about US$1,600) by a Burmese for the trafficking job.
