Smut campaign labeled 'total con'
A WOMAN who has become a hot public topic after an online blogger claimed in her name that she contracted AIDS after having sex with hundreds of men as prostitute said the blog was a "total con," probably by her ex-boyfriend.
A primary medical examination on the woman, Yan Deli, 29, showed she was HIV negative, China News Service reported yesterday.
The examination was conducted at a hospital in her hometown in Rongcheng County of northern China's Hebei Province's Baoding City.
Yan planned to undergo a further check at a higher-level hospital, her cousin Yan Guoqing said.
Yan was forced to take the examination to clear her name after the blog said she worked as a prostitute in a Beijing karaoke bar.
Personal information such as her name, address and Net IDs were published as well as hundreds of photos, many of them nude.
Also published were the mobile phone numbers of her 279 "clients."
In the blog, "Yan" claimed she was raped by her stepfather when she was 15. She then quit school and went to Beijing to work as a prostitute because her family was too poor to support her.
Police alerted
Yan said the blog was fake and many of the pictures were not of her.
Yan had referred the case to Rongcheng police.
However, officers said the location of the Internet Protocol address of the blogger was in Beijing, outside of Rongcheng's jurisdiction.
They have contacted Beijing police, identifying the suspect as Yan's ex-boyfriend, surnamed Yang.
If convicted, Yang could be charged with libel, according to police.
Yang was angered by Yan when she broke up with him after he refused to get a divorce and marry her.
Yang visited Yan's family dozens of times demanding compensation and some of the disputes had developed into violence, according to the news service.
Pornographic leaflets supposedly featuring Yan's nude pictures were then issued to the Yans' neighbors and a burning bottle was thrown into the family's backyard one night.
The mobile phone numbers of the 279 "clients" have sparked public interest.
Some Netizens have tried to contact the "clients" to find out their true identifies or make fun of them, according to yesterday's Beijing News.
The number of a Rongcheng police officer was on the list.
He told the newspaper that he had received messages from unknown people every day since last week mocking his "relationship" with Yan.
He said he felt frustrated as he did not even know Yan.
