Snowstorm alert renewed for north China
CHINA'S national observatory issued a yellow snowstorm alert for the country's northwest and northeast regions on Sunday and Monday.
The National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast blizzards to dump over 10 centimeters of snow in parts of Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Jilin and Heilongjiang.
It has issued a blue alert for snowstorms to hit parts of Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia and Tibet Autonomous Region on Saturday.
Cold air will also affect south and east China, bringing gales and lowering temperatures by over 10 degrees Celsius in southern Jiangxi Province, according to the NMC.
Moderate to torrential rain is expected to hit parts of Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi and Anhui.
The affected areas will be hit hardest on Sunday, as the heavy snow and rain are expected to ease on Monday, the NMC said.
China has a four-color warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
