Some Delivery Firms Turn Blind Eye To Risk
AS temperatures rise, a loophole in the rules governing delivery services is allowing the transport of electronic products containing lithium batteries which can explode if they overheat.
China's aviation authorities, who have restricted such batteries on domestic flights, have suggested that delivery services on land should refuse products containing lithium batteries because of the risk.
However, products such as iPads, which contain lithium batteries, are still being accepted by some carriers.
While some companies have started to reject deliveries of such electronic products, others turn a blind eye to the potential risk.
China Post said the law does not clearly ban the delivery of lithium batteries. But companies are obliged to check goods and refuse to deliver those that pose a safety risk.
