South Korea loosens visas for tourists
SOUTH Korea has loosened visa requirements for Chinese tourists to boost its tourism market.
Starting this month, those allowed an individual visa with multiple entries to South Korea have been expanded from elite groups including lawyers, doctors and professors to school teachers, retired citizens, key university graduates and government workers, China International Radio reported today.
Group visas can now be issued to a minimum three people from the previous five.
Favorable policies will also be available to business travelers.
The new policies are expected to boost the number of Chinese tourists to South Korea by 20 percent, according to South Korean media.
Last year, 1.2 million Chinese tourists visited South Korea, more than double the 585,000 in 2005.
