Southeast braces for Lion Rock
Tropical storm Lion Rock is expected to bring heavy rains and gales to southeast China's coastal areas, closely following tropical storm Namtheun, which hit Fujian Province on Tuesday, authorities said yesterday.
Moving at a speed of 83 kilometers per hour, Lion Rock was expected to make landfall in the area from Guangdong's Shanwei City to Fujian's Xiamen City, late last night or early today, and might strengthen before landing, said Lin Liangxun, a forecaster in Guangdong.
Another tropical storm named Namtheun is forecast to blast Fujian's coastal cities today and tomorrow with heavy rains, according to Fujian's provincial observatory.
