Spa shows women's locker room live on TV screen

A spa salon in Dongguan in the southern province of Guangdong showed scenes of its women's locker room live on a TV screen in the reception area for "security reasons," today's New Express reported.

A customer surnamed Huang found people could see her taking off clothes on the screen in the Healthy Water World and she lodged a complaint to the salon for violating her privacy.

The salon manager explained that they showed the live surveillance video to warn thieves and they also placed video cameras in bathrooms.

But most customers are unaware of these cameras. A notice in each bathroom says it is under security surveillance but does not mention that the live video is shown in the reception area.

The salon manager told New Express that they have not received a single complaint since they installed video cameras two years ago. They will inform each customer of the surveillance system but will not remove it.

Police are probing into the case and told customers to take legal actions if they think their privacy has been violated.
