Special courts to consider IPR cases

CHINA is to set up special courts for intellectual property rights cases in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.

Members of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress adopted the resolution during their bimonthly legislative session that ended yesterday.

The courts will focus on civil and administrative lawsuits regarding patents, new plant varieties, integrated circuit designs and technological knowledge.

A revision to the Workplace Safety Law which imposes harsher punishment on offenders was also adopted.
