Speed driving photo turns out to be a prank

AN online photo that shows midnight speed driving and disturbed many viewers turns out to be a prank by a middle school student in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

The photo seen on Weibo, China's answer to Twitter, caused quite a stir after it was posted on Friday night. The student identified by his Weibo name "cenxxxx" showed in the photo the speed meter of a car racing in a tunnel with a caption: "Midnight racing hitting 200 kph!"

The post soon caught the attention of many netizens, including local police.

Shenzhen police reacted swiftly, first with a post warning the "driver" to slow down immediately and then tracking down on the offender.

The post was soon deleted but it already became one of Weibo's hottest topics.

Shenzhen police said they found "cenxxxx" is a student who has no car and no driving license. The teenager found the photo on the Internet and posted it in order to attract more followers, local newspaper New Express reported today.

Police said they will continue the investigation to find the original photo taker who violated the traffic rules.
