Spurned man hacks 4 to death

AN outraged lover has been detained for hacking a mother and her three children to death after the woman refused to divorce her husband and run away with him in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China.
The suspect surnamed Meng, took a bottle of pesticide and a knife to his lover's home in Dachang Town, highly agitated after the woman surnamed Xiong refused to run off with him. A furious Meng slashed Xiong and her three children - a two-year-old girl, a five-year-old boy and a seven-year-old boy. All of them died, news portal Chinanews.com quoted police as saying yesterday.
Meng and Xiong, natives of Du'an County, met in Dachang and fell in love. Meng told police he had planned to commit suicide by drinking pesticide, but the bottle was smashed during the brawl.
He then hid on a nearby hill and was quickly caught, the Chinanews.com report said.
