Stab waitress 'mentally unsound'

THE waitress who killed a government official and injured another in central China's Hubei Province has been found to be mentally unsound and only partially responsible for the crimes.

Deng Yujiao is under home arrest after prosecutors charged her with assault and battery on June 5, according to the Chengdu Business Daily report today.

Deng killed a local official, Deng Guida, and injured his colleague, Huang Dezhi, at a restaurant May 10 in Badong County of Hubei Province. Deng Guida was stabbed four times and Huang was cut on his arm.

A dispute broke out after the woman allegedly rejected the officials' requests for sex.

Police said Deng used "excessive force" in the incident. The All-China Women's Federation has expressed concern about Deng's case.
